Simple Locale automatically translates object names and texts in your visualization – free of charge to translate out of the box, optionally with Google Cloud Translate and/or DeepL – switchable live, without touching your admin interface.

What you need before you start.
A running IP-Symcon installation - Simple Locale is a module for tile visualizations* by IP-Symcon, not a standalone application.
An existing tile visualization with the categories, variables, and links you want translated.
Simple Locale translates for free out of the box via MyMemory, no account or API key required. Google Cloud Translate and/or DeepL can be added anytime as optional extras - with automatic fallback, see "Failover-safe" under Features.

So you know where you stand: this is what Simple Locale deliberately can't (yet) do.
The active language is a state of the instance - and so is the name of an IP-Symcon object - not a state of the individual browser session. Two users opening the same visualization at the same time always see the same language and the same displayed objects. Simultaneously different languages require multiple visualization instances, each with its own root category, and they must not share any objects.
Automatic translation doesn't always deliver a fitting translation, regardless of provider. Review all translations once after the first scan - manual corrections are never automatically overwritten.
If a rescan finds an unnamed object, it aborts entirely (no translation, nothing saved) until that object has been named. Simple Locale helps you find unnamed objects.
If multiple objects outside as well as inside your chosen area use the same physical variable, the same variable profile, or the same template (e.g. via a link into multiple visualizations), their caption changes everywhere it's used - not just in the visualization you translated.
The configuration form transfers "object names", "custom texts" and "captions" all at once - with many objects multiplied by many simultaneously available target languages, this response can grow larger than IP-Symcon's own limit for script output (error message Output-Buffer exceeds Limit in the console). This isn't a malfunction of the module, just a plain transport limit of the IP-Symcon console: in the console, under License Information (the "i" icon, top right) → Special Switches (bottom center), raise the ScriptOutputBufferLimit value (e.g. to 8388608 = 8 MB), then reopen the form. By the way: the visualization itself is unaffected and always keeps working.
The search field, hover tooltips on the icons (e.g. the bell shows "Notifications" on hover), the time/date format, and the label of the "Favorites" button itself are hard-coded into the IP-Symcon console/tile visualization and stay in the language of the Symcon console regardless of Simple Locale. The object names of the individual favorites listed underneath, however, are translated.
